In order to create a Gazelle model for the AW23 Spezial collection, the team decided they needed to create something different without re-inventing the wheel. The two main design features on the final product are the white eyestay similar to the 1970s West German Gazelle, and the split foxing on the midsole. The smooth 'tape' design is inspired by Gazelle first produced in Yugoslavia, and the lower part of the midsole has accentuated texture to show the contrast.
